Renting out your electric car

Managing your charging preferences

Navigate to Battery charging in your car settings

Charging plan

Choose between three different charging options:

  • Free charging - You cover the cost of all charging and give the renter access to a charging network.
  • Initial charge included - The renter doesn’t pay for the battery difference between pick-up and return. The renter does, however, pay for charging during the rental.
  • Renter pays for all charging - The renter is charged or refunded for the battery difference between pick-up and return. The renter also pays for charging during the rental. If your car is Keyless, the charge or refund will be processed automatically.

Dedicated charging point (Keyless only)

If your car is Keyless, you have the option of requiring that renters plug your car into your own dedicated charging point. Only require this option if you can guarantee access to the charging point at all times, and you pay for the cost of the charging when it is connected.

Choose between two options:

  • Plug-in required - Renters are instructed to plug the car into your dedicated charger, otherwise a fee is charged and paid to you as compensation. You can see the fee amount on your Battery charging page.
  • Plug-in not required - Renters are not instructed to plug the car in.

Charging time

Here you can automatically block your car’s availability calendar between rentals to ensure it has enough time to charge. You can choose from multiple options.

Writing clear instructions

Many renters have never driven an electric car before, so it’s important to update your instructions and description to help pre-empt questions they may have.

Navigate to Instructions and description in your car settings.

Car profile description

  • What battery level will you aim for the car to be provided with? (Remember, GoMore expects cars to be provided with a minimum battery charge. You can see the specific value on your Battery charging page).
  • What is your car’s range? This will help renters to plan their trip. Be realistic, mention things like the difference temperature or driving style can have on battery usage.
  • Does your car support fast charging, and how does that work?

Remember, we will explain what charging plan you have chosen and your plug-in requirements on the car profile, so you don’t need to mention that.

Picking up the car

  • If your car has a dedicated charging point, clearly describe where it is and provide step-by-step instructions on how to unplug your car.

During the rental

  • If you offer Free charging, let renters know which charging network(s) you are providing them access to. Is there a charging fob, or access to an app? Tell them everything they need to know to easily charge your car.
  • Are there any particular charging stations you recommend?
  • Provide step-by-step instructions on how to charge your car.

Returning the car

  • If your car is Keyless and you require plug-in at return, provide step-by-step instructions on how to connect the car to your charging point, and how to know if the car is charging. Our app will make it very clear to renters that they need to plug your car in. If they don’t plug it in, they will be charged a fee.

  • Are there any nearby charging stations you recommend for a quick recharge?

Don’t worry, if you have a Keyless car and require plug-in, we will make it very clear that plug-in is required when the renter is returning your car.
