Fuel costs for GoMore rentals

When you rent a car through GoMore, it is important to understand how fuel costs are handled to ensure a smooth and fair rental experience for both parties involved.

Responsibility for fuel costs

  • Renter's responsibility: As a renter, you are responsible for the fuel costs during the rental period. If the car is not returned with the same amount of fuel as at the start of the rental, you will automatically be charged for the missing fuel. Conversely, if you return the car with more fuel, you will be refunded for the extra amount. Please refer to our rental terms for detailed information on fuel pricing.

How is the fuel level registered?

How fuel levels are recorded depends on whether you rent a Keyless or non-Keyless car.

Keyless rentals

  • Automatic reporting: Most Keyless cars automatically report the fuel level to the rental contract, which simplifies the process for you. If the car does not automatically report the fuel level, or if the reported level is incorrect, you need to manually update the correct information in the GoMore app.

Non-Keyless rentals

  • Initial fuel level: When you pick up the car, the owner must record the current fuel level in the rental contract. This ensures that both you and the owner agree on the fuel amount before you begin using the car.

  • End of rental: The same procedure applies when the car is returned. The fuel level should be checked and recorded in the rental contract to confirm that it matches the initial level.

Handling discrepancies in fuel levels

Keyless rentals

  • Automatic charges and credits: Similar to non-Keyless rentals, any discrepancies in fuel levels will be automatically handled according to the rental terms. If the car is returned with less fuel, you will be charged, and the amount will be credited to the car owner's GoMore earnings. Conversely, if the car is returned with more fuel, the credit will be deducted from the owner's earnings and transferred to your earnings.

Non-Keyless rentals

  • Lower fuel level: If you return the car with less fuel than initially provided, this discrepancy should be noted in the rental contract within the app. You and the car owner should agree on a fuel cost reimbursement directly upon return. Once agreed, the additional cost can be entered into the app's "additional costs" field, and the charge will be deducted from the payment card you registered when booking.

  • Higher fuel level: If you return the car with more fuel than at the start, this should be noted as well, although typically no action is required unless otherwise agreed with the owner.

Is the car required to be fully fueled when picked up?

  • Recommendation but not a requirement: GoMore recommends that car owners provide the car with a full tank of fuel to make it easier for you to remember the correct fuel level at the handover. However, this is not mandatory, and the agreed-upon fuel level should be clearly stated in the rental contract.
